A belly cast is a wonderful memory of your pregnancy.
Women are strong and amazing, they know in their heart how to give birth. Birth is a very private, emotional, spiritual and physical experience. Women choose home birth because they want to participate in their birth, want less or no interventions and want to have control of their birthing process. Giving birth to your baby, rather than being delivered of it, is a life changing empowering experience.
Leaving your house and going to another place to birth your baby is the first intervention happening. Birthing at your home provides a level of comfort and autonomy that cannot be achieved in the same way in a hospital or a birthing center.
Research shows strong evidence that planned home births for low risk women, who have a normal uncomplicated pregnancy and are cared for by a midwife achieve similar perinatal outcomes to planned hospital births.
As your nurse midwife I support normal physiologic childbirth and will be with you and support your wishes and make sure that you make informed decision throughout your pregnancy, birth and the post-partum period. I will respect the unique experiences and values you and your family bring to the process of pregnancy and birth. I will honor your individuality as a woman and the birth of your child as a powerful transformative event in your and your family’s life.
Your home environment is your comfort zone where you are naturally more relaxed. This and having your family around makes an important difference in reducing the discomfort during labor. You can move freely the way your body tells you to do. You may labor in any position that feels comfortable to you and you may eat and drink as you like. And don’t forget the relaxing and healing power of water, when you immerse in the warm water of a labor pool. I will be there to support you and your family whenever you want me to be there and I will be staying at least 3-4 hours after birth.
To prepare your home for the birth I will provide a birth kit and we will have plenty of time during your prenatal visits to answer any questions. It is easy to prepare your home for your birth.
Having a pool of water in a birthing room makes everyone present calmer, the warm water reduces stress and allows the mother to relax and helps her to move spontaneous into any position her body and her baby wants. When a woman immerses into the warm water of a birthing pool it reduces her sensory stimulation and her body releases less stress-related hormones.
"Nothing in the world is as soft and yielding as water, Yet nothing can better overcome the hard and strong, For they can neither control nor do away with it. The soft overcomes the hard, The yielding overcomes the strong.”
